Voodoos Walk Off with Win
|
Kearny High got a terrific game from left fielder Jeff Scott. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rutland, 7-6. Scott was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was John Laub in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Nick Scott took the loss. Rutland has now won 4 games in a row.
Jesse Boudreaux, who is tied for 6th in the HALL in runs scored with 55, contributed to the Rutland win with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the first baseman had 3 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 3 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.
Boudreaux described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
