Mustangs Get Past Riverside for 5-4 Win
|
Behind the bravura of designated hitter Brenden Hayes, the San Marin Mustangs topped the Riverside Poly by the score of 5-4. Hayes was 2-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mustangs. Reliever Bill Thomson picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Ed Helmer took the loss. Steve Berard locked down his 3rd save.
Hayes had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Mustangs went on to win.
"This team is real focused right now," said San Marin manager Marcus Piscitelli.
The Mustangs, now 28-30, have won 5 in a row.
