Falcons Fall Short at Rutland
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Jim Arnold, the Frontance Falcons suffered a 6-5 loss to the Rutland Voodoos. Arnold was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Rutland reliever Blake Rumbolt was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was George Campbell. The Voodoos raised their record to 34-23.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Matt Alge came to bat in the bottom of the 15th. Facing Frontance pitcher George Campbell, he hit a 1-1 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Rutland on top, 6-5.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Frontance manager Bryan Bram.
