Keith Malloy was a vital contributor to the 10-5 Santa Clara victory over Derby. The Vampires right fielder was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Santa Clara pitcher Joe Campbell earned the win, hiking his record to 3-1. Matt Killey suffered the loss. Santa Clara is now 30-25, while Derby is 27-28.

Erik Ingle had a big grand slam home run for the Vampires in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Santa Clara leading 5-4 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 15-year old right-handed pitcher Evan Leisure and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Vampires on top, 9-4.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Santa Clara manager Andy Jones.
