Cardinals Bridle Warhawks, 4-2
|
The Seminole Warhawks got a sterling performance from shortstop Danny Koetters, but the Cardinals still prevailed, 4-2. Koetters was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Kearny High reliever Nick Scott was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Norm Derderian took the loss. Dusty Murphy earned his 5th save in 6 tries.
Kearny High used the timely hitting of Jeff Scott to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I like what I saw today," said Kearny High manager Seth Richert, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Kearny High occupies second place in the Hank Aaron Little League Willie Mays Division at 32-22.
