Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds was the site of a competitive game between the Tioga Central Tigers and Montreal Cardinals.
In a low-scoring game between the Montreal Cardinals and the Tioga Central Tigers, pitcher Sergio Tovar was masterful on the mound. The Montreal right-hander was named the player of the game in Montreal's 2-1 win. At 20-31, Montreal is in last place in the Pete Rose Little League Roger Clemens Division.
In the bottom of the second, Montreal designated hitter Matt Mausser had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Mausser stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Montreal. For the game, he was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk.
"The old adage is true," said Tovar. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
