Warhawks Curb Indians, 12-8
|
The 12-8 Seminole win over Jefferson was due largely to Kyle Egerton. The Warhawks left fielder went 1-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Seminole reliever Tom Stewart picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Bill Douglas was tagged with the loss. With the win over Jefferson, the Warhawks improved to 28-21.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop D.J. Bratta came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Jefferson pitcher Bill Douglas, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seminole on top, 8-7.
In postgame comments to the Seminole Bulletin, Bratta said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
