Vampires Beat Visiting Cardinals, 4-3
|
The Santa Clara Vampires overcame a good performance by Montreal second baseman Dan Lehnert to knock off Montreal, 4-3, at River Otters Ballpark. Lehnert was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. The Vampires now have a record of 23-24.
The Vampires got a big at-bat from center fielder Alex Melendez. For the game, Melendez went 1-3. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 38th hit of the season gave Santa Clara a 4-3 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Santa Clara skipper Wendell Bauer. "I can't complain."
