John Szczygiel left his imprint on the 12-6 Kearny High win against the Lerna Lions. Szczygiel, who is tied for 2nd in the HALL in hits with 83, went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 4 times. Tim Amerine got the win, improving to 3-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Getting the save was David Reynaga, his 1st.

It could have been a different outcome for Kearny High, had it not been for Wayne Morin, the 15-year old catcher . Morin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Kearny High up, 4-3.
