Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Kansas City Tornadoes home opener. Mario Villegas started for the home team against Jim Wallace for the Buffalo Bison. The Tornadoes were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 8-6, Buffalo. Devin Staples, though, was impressive.

Buffalo used the timely hitting of Manuel Uribe to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bison on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I had a good game," said Staples. "Winning makes it even better."
