League Punishes Pair for Fighting
Saturday, May 24th , 2064
Yesterday at Oak Park Stadium Nobuhiko Yamamoto and Robbie Garza got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Saint John Alpines and Oak Park Architects. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Yamamoto will have to sit out 4 while Garza would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Yamamoto is batting .306 with 5 home runs and 29 RBIs this season.
This year, Garza has registered 4 wins and 2 losses in 2 starts with a 4.82 ERA while registering 44 strikeouts and 30 walks in 46.2 innings.
