Atlantics SS Kay has 3 hits in Win
|
The Cuautitlan Izcalli Atlantics topped the San Carlos Pipers, 7-5, with youngster Matt Kay playing a key role. Kay went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Atlantics in the win. Cuautitlan Izcalli reliever Matt Norberg picked up the win, raising his record to 2-3. Tony Nunez was tagged with the loss. The slumping Pipers have lost 7 straight.
Kay had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 changeup from Carlos Lira, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Atlantics a 7-5 lead. It was the 33rd double of the year for Kay.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Chris Santacroce. "But it's got to translate into wins."
