Voodoos Get Past Riverside, 8-7
|
Voodoos third baseman Mike Redfern left his mark on his team's 8-7 win over the Riverside Poly. Redfern, who is tied for 9th in the HALL in runs scored with 39, went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs for Rutland in the contest. Craig Boike, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-2. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Ryan Knight got the save, the 5th for him this season.
Mitch Yarema went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Rutland. The 14-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ted Zaccheo. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Redfern.
Rutland is now 18-9.
