Thoroughbreds Shimmy Past Atlantics, 7-6
The 3-RBI night of designated hitter Malachi Wichert, who is tied for 7th in the TLA with a .376 batting average, helped the Aiken Thoroughbreds triumph, 7-6, over the Cuautitlan Izcalli Atlantics. Israel Salto snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Aiken, at 116-45, is cruising.

Aiken took a 7-6 lead on Mario Lara's 29th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Lara hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cuautitlan Izcalli pitcher Johnny Arizaga visibly frustrated.

"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Wichert told the Aiken Herald. "And padding the Aiken win column."
