Fading Alpines Lose 18th Straight
|
The losses keep piling up for the Saint John Alpines.
The Surrey Thunderbirds picked up a win at Surrey Field, dropping the Saint John Alpines, 4-1. Russ Howell, who is tied for 6th in the RLA with a 1.34 WHIP, was the difference-maker. Surrey reliever Juan Mendoza was the winner. His record is now 5-6. Hector Perez took the loss.
Bill Aguilar drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Surrey. The 19-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Juan Galvan. It was his 108th walk of the season.
"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Saint John skipper .
Saint John now owns a losing streak of 18 games.
