Losing Trend Continues for Estación Juanita
|
Tobias Koeck impressed in the 7-3 Martinsburg win over Estación Juanita. Koeck, who is tied for 10th in the RLA in stolen bases with 13, was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winner was Ivan Valdes, who threw 91 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. David Salgado was credited with the save for Martinsburg, his 26th of the season.
With Martinsburg trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Koeck hit a fastball from Mario Avalos for a 3-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Maulers ahead, 3-1.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Brian Spencer told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
