Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Dan Dittus, the Tokyo Yakult Swallows defeated the Yokohama Bay Stars, 6-2. Dittus was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Swallows. Bobby Luther, credited with the win, is now 6-3. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in 8.2 innings. Lee Lee recorded his 13th save for Tokyo Yakult.
Satoru Higgins put Tokyo Yakult in front, 4-0, when he took Katsuhiko Nakao downtown. His 3-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the first. It was his 1st home run of the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Dittus.
The third-place Swallows have won 4 in a row.
