Surrey picked up a win at Santa Clara Stadium, bumping off the Santa Clara Vampyres, 6-3. Pitcher Bobby Isbell was a major reason the Thunderbirds emerged victorious. Isbell yielded 3 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 5, and struck out 5. His record improves to 14-6. Salvador Reyes got credit for the save for Surrey. It was his 22nd of the year.

Surrey used a timely hit from A.J. Ragan to get the win. The left fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Bobby's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Surrey manager John Griffin.

The first-place Thunderbirds have a one-game lead in their division.
