Nash goes 4-for-6, Saint John Gets 16-9 Victory
|
The Saint John Alpines beat the Santa Clara Vampyres, 16-9, at Santa Clara Stadium. The win was due in part to left fielder Randy Nash, who was 4 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 8 RBI and scoring once. Saint John pitcher Jose Gallegos got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Robby Gonzales got the loss. The Alpines bumped their record to 86-61 with this latest triumph.
Saint John used a clutch at-bat from Jesus Espada to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Alpines ahead, 8-5. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I felt good about my swing," said Nash.
