Ito Helps Marines Run Win Streak to 4
Spirited fans at Field of the Chariots greeted the Saitama Seibu Lions for their clash with the Chiba Lotte Marines.

The Chiba Lotte Marines dealt the Saitama Seibu Lions a 9-4 loss at Field of the Chariots. Yoichi Ito was the star on offense. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Akitoshi Nakano.

Chiba Lotte used the timely hitting of Jesse Omura to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Marines ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Chiba Lotte manager Mark Connor.

Chiba Lotte is now 17-9, 3½ games up in the Pacific Division.
