Thoroughbreds Dispatch Cucamonga, 11-3
The Aiken Thoroughbreds overcame a pretty good performance by Rancho designated hitter Pat Slaton, beating the Cucamonga, 11-3, at Aiken Stadium. Slaton went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Thoroughbreds improved to a lofty 97-40.

Aiken took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Kenichi Sakamoto hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Thoroughbreds in front, 3-2.

"We played with the swagger of a first-place team," said Thoroughbreds manager David Flecha.
