Maston Hits Two Dingers, Voodoos Win, 9-3
|
The Rutland Voodoos finished off the Riverside Poly, 9-3. Much of the credit belonged to shortstop Joe Maston. Maston belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Voodoos. Jake Bush got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Brian Sorensen got the save, the 1st for him this season.
In the top of the third, 16-year old first baseman Adam Edwards hit a 2-run home run. The 9th home run of the season for the Rutland first baseman put the Voodoos on top, 2-0.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Rutland manager Jason Fritz.
With the win, the Voodoos have a record of 17-9.
