12-8 Kingston Loss Tarnishes Matas's Fine Effort
The Brighton Steelhounds weathered a fine game by Kingston shortstop Roberto Matas to upend the Beats, 12-8, at Steelhounds Grounds. Matas went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. Brighton has run its win streak to 5 in a row.

Brighton shortstop Lachlan Hutchence contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 112nd hit of the season and put the Steelhounds ahead, 10-7.

Hutchence described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
