Jose Ordaz was a vital contributor to the 9-8 Surrey victory over Oak Park. The Thunderbirds third baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Bobby Isbell, the winning pitcher, improved to 13-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The save went to Salvador Reyes, his 15th this season.
Surrey shortstop Kevin Aldridge contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 65th hit of the season and put the Thunderbirds ahead, 1-0.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Aldridge said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
Surrey is now 78-49.
