Panthers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Rutland, 11-8
|
The Derby Panthers beat the Rutland Voodoos, 11-8, at Managua HS Grounds. The Panthers got a fine performance from left fielder Jun-suk Moon, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Derby reliever Nick Jones was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Bill Martin took the loss. Florent Leclercq picked up the save for Derby, his 4th of the year.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Rutland hurler Bill Martin, Jesse Camp drew a walk. The Panthers went on to win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Derby manager Ken Hubert.
Their 11-7 record puts the Panthers second in the Pete Rose Little League Roger Clemens Division.
