George Washington Wins, Roland scores 3 runs
|
The George Washington Patriots powered past the Pitman High Panthers, 14-12, at Osprey Ballpark. Randy Roland was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2, to lead the charge. George Washington reliever Kyle Stebbins picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Ryan Vaughn took the loss. Nick Giancaterino got the save, the 6th for him this season.
Adam Dula had a big grand slam home run for the Patriots in the bottom of the first inning. With George Washington leading 4-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 14-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Vaughn and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Patriots on top, 8-1.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Dula, "but we got it done."
The win elevated the Patriots to 12-5.
