Crawfish Better Cucamonga, 6-5
|
Though he had a stellar game, Carlos Mandonado could not prevent his team, the Rancho Cucamonga, from losing, 6-5, to the Victory Lakes Crawfish. Mandonado was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Steve Conklin. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Adam Butler finished to wrap up his 11th save.
The Crawfish beat the Cucamonga in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Francisco Arechiga produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Alberto Moreno, Arechiga gave his team the lead, 6-5, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Arechiga. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
The third-place Crawfish are 62-57.
