Multi-HR Day for Leverette as Chargers Overpower Tigers, 13-3
|
Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Tenafly fans at Ballpark of León HS. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Chargers had to.
The Topeka West Chargers got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-3 win over the Tenafly Tigers. Player of the game honors went to second baseman Mike Leverette. Leverette, who is tied for 4th in the PRLL in doubles with 6, belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Topeka West is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 3rd win in 12 games.
With Topeka West leading 3-0 in the top of the fifth, Leverette hit a fastball from Joe Potts for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Chargers ahead, 6-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Leverette. "Wins have been hard to come by."
