Kittrell Leads Tigers to 16-14 Win Over Lions
|
The Tioga Central Tigers handed the Lerna Lions a loss at Alleycats Ballpark. The final score was 16-14. Major production was provided by Chris Kittrell for Tioga Central. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 4. He also added 2 walks. James Wiley picked up the win in relief. James Poling took the loss for Lerna. Lerna drops to 6-5.
The Lions had been locked in a 11-11 tie with the Tigers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 14-year old third baseman Jose Duran came to the plate. Duran hit a grand slam home run on a 0-1 fastball from Lerna hurler Matt Gramling. It was Duran's 2nd home run of the year.
"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Tigers manager Hector Valencia.
