Cougars Strike Down Vampyres, 11-3
|
The Victoria Cougars clobbered the Santa Clara Vampyres, 11-3, at Cougars Park. Leading the onslaught was Edwin Dunse. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks for Victoria. Victoria reliever Jorge Torres picked up the win. Rodolfo Loa, who is tied for 8th in the RLA in strikeouts with 135, took the loss for Santa Clara. The win gives Victoria a season record of 70-46.
Jesus Segovia had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Cougars. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Victoria trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Dunse told the Victoria Herald.
