Cardinals Win, 3-1, at Tenafly
|
The Montreal Cardinals cut down the Tenafly Tigers by the score of 3-1, with the largest share of the credit going to pinch hitter George Saslove. Saslove went 1 for 1 with a home run for the Cardinals. Montreal reliever Tom Plante picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jared Bell absorbed the loss. The defeat makes Tenafly 2-6.
Montreal used a well-timed hit by Dave Park to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Cardinals manager Tim Graham. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
