Getting a good performance from third baseman Eddie Turley, the Topeka West Chargers defeated the Santa Clara Vampires, 9-7. Turley went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Chargers. Topeka West reliever Kory Adcock picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Steve Bergeaux shouldered the loss. Steve Dean finished the game for Topeka West and earned his 1st save.

Topeka West used the bat of Jamie Johnson to get the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chargers ahead, 9-7. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We'll savor this win," Turley told the Topeka West Daily, "then get ready for the next game."

The Vampires, now 2-5, have been pitiful so far.
