Runs were plentiful at Breakers Ballpark.
The Topeka West Chargers withstood an impressive performance by Derby right fielder Taylor Nunley to defeat the Panthers, 11-9, at Breakers Ballpark. Nunley went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Topeka West reliever Ryan Woller snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Aaron Cichonski shouldered the loss. Jon Carman earned the save for Topeka West, his 1st.
Topeka West took the lead, 11-8, on Bill Dunlap's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Derby pitcher Aaron Cichonski in the bottom of the eighth.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Dunlap.
Topeka West goes to 2-1.
