Steelhounds Suffer One-Run Loss at Surrey
|
In a tight tilt between the Surrey Thunderbirds and the Brighton Steelhounds, Bobby Isbell was the deciding factor. The Surrey left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Isbell, now 11-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. At 68-39, the Thunderbirds claim second place in the RCL LA West Division.
Surrey second baseman David Derbyshire helped the Thunderbirds go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Derbyshire hit a run-scoring single off Brighton pitcher Dave Dunham.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Thunderbirds manager John Griffin.
