Monarchs Rally For Late Win Over Saints
|
Hatchets Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the London Monarchs and the Trois-Rivieres Saints.
The London Monarchs beat the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 8-7, at Hatchets Ballpark. London designated hitter Matt Ridell earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. London reliever Josh Lewter picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Howard Kirby shouldered the loss.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from London designated hitter Matt Ridell. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with one out and a runner on 2nd, Ridell hit a run-scoring double to help London seize the win.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said London manager Edward Carr.
London is second in the Lester B. Person League East Division with a record of 28-26.
