The Victoria Capitals eked out a 6-5 win versus the Kelowna Heat at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Nobody did more than pitcher Ken Lavigne, who captured player of the game honors. Today's win puts Victoria at 32-21, while Kelowna falls to 29-24.

In the bottom of the sixth, with Victoria trailing 4-3, Éric Huguet hit a fastball from Mike Walker for a 3-run home run, giving the Capitals the lead, 6-4.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Lavigne said.
