5 Straight Wins for Heat
|
There was no shortage of dramatics at Brantford College Grounds today.
The Heat had to overcome a fine performance from Saskatoon pitcher Adam Weeks to grab a 9-8 win at Brantford College Grounds. Weeks allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings. Kelowna reliever Steve Danton picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Larry Coburn was collared with the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Willard Corrigan came to bat in the bottom of the 13th. Facing Saskatoon pitcher Larry Coburn, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kelowna on top, 9-8.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Kelowna manager Jorge Martínez.
The Heat have now won 5 straight.
