The Victoria Capitals topped the Kelowna Heat, 9-7, in CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE action at Brantford College Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Victoria catcher Herb Dower. Aubrey Shea was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Vern Thexton. The slumping Heat have dropped 8 in a row.

Victoria used the clutch hitting of Francis Duval to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Capitals ahead, 8-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Duval.
