Mailman Supplies Juice in Saskatoon Win
|
The Saskatoon Legends and Victoria Capitals lit up the scoreboard.
In a high-scoring contest between Saskatoon and Victoria, second baseman Alex Mailman was a difference-maker. Mailman, who is tied for 10th in the LBL in doubles with 10, distinguished himself in the 10-8 Saskatoon win. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 walks. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. George Lovelass was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Mark Aubry.
Saskatoon first baseman Walt Chartrand contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 57th hit of the season and put the Legends ahead, 10-8.
Chartrand said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
So far in 2062, Saskatoon is 23-22.
