Beals Goes Deep Twice, Helps Monarchs Top Heat, 12-6
London played host to Kelowna at Hatchets Ballpark.

The London Monarchs topped the Kelowna Heat, 12-6, with first baseman Rick Beals playing a big role. Beals went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for the Monarchs in the win. The winning pitcher was Roland Zuwiski. His record now stands at 3-4. The left-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs got a big hit from pinch hitter Ed Jordan. Facing Kelowna pitcher Alan Moors in the bottom of the seventh, Jordan pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Monarchs ahead, 12-0.

Afterward, Kelowna manager James McKeamish said: "Every team has a bad week."

The Monarchs raised their record to 16-28.
