8-6 Royal Oak Loss Tarnishes Wilks's Fine Effort
|
Royal Oak got a terrific game from third baseman Stanley Wilks. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Oak Park, 8-6. Wilks was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Edgar Portillo recorded the save, his 3rd. The second-place Architects are 66-35.
Oak Park took the lead, 8-6, on Jorge Rivera's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Royal Oak pitcher Rich Arias in the bottom of the seventh.
"Guys seem to be putting together some really nice at-bats right now," said Architects manager James Naber.
