Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the San Carlos Pipers and Springfield Sentries.

The San Carlos Pipers weathered a fine game by Springfield pinch hitter Dave Carrillo to upend the Sentries, 8-5, at Pipers Grove. Carrillo was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Carlos reliever Tony Nunez got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Luis Morales was tagged with the loss.

San Carlos pinch hitter Gavrilo Sljivancanin helped the Pipers go up, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Sljivancanin hit a run-scoring single off Springfield pitcher Luis Morales.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Sljivancanin told the San Carlos Times.
