Stars, Crowley Pin Bad Loss on Monarchs
|
The Niagara Stars pinned a convincing loss on the London Monarchs, 10-0, at Drummondville College Grounds. Leland Crowley was a main factor in the win. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Niagara. Arvin Lent, the winner, improved to 5-0. He held the Monarchs to no runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. The last-place Monarchs have lost 5 straight games.
Ed Buell hit a 3-run home run off Errol Delaney in the bottom of the second, which put the Stars ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Buell had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"Not much went right for us," London manager Lúcio Sánchez said, when asked afterward about the game.
