Media Luna Stopped, 14-9, by Toronto
|
The Toronto Blue Jays besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Media Luna left fielder Lee Peterson by beating the Marlins, 14-9, at Exhibition Stadium. Peterson was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The winner in relief was Jeff Ferguson. He is now 6-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The first-place Blue Jays, at 64-32, lead the TML LA East Division by 12½ games.
Bob Kachmar hit a 2-run double off Pablo Flores in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Blue Jays in front, 10-9. In addition to the double, Kachmar had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Kachmar told the Toronto Chronicle. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
