Victory Over Stars Takes Victoria to 18-10
The Victoria Capitals beat the Niagara Stars, 8-5, at Drummondville College Grounds. The Capitals got a fine performance from shortstop Mel Pye, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Niagara's current losing streak has reached 4 games.

Pye's key contribution came in the top of the third when he sent a first pitch forkball into center for a 2-run single. It put the Capitals ahead, 3-0.

"We'll savor this win," Pye told the Victoria News, "then get ready for the next game."
