No Mercy for Alpines in 14-0 Pounding
|
The Martinsburg Maulers got production from their entire lineup in an easy 14-0 win over the Saint John Alpines. Doing his part was first baseman Arturo Paz. Paz, who is tied for 5th in the RLA in doubles with 24, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Todd Joseph, his 3rd. The defeat makes Saint John 27-68.
The Maulers got a big hit from third baseman Qian-hua Nao. Facing Saint John pitcher Miguel Garcia in the bottom of the sixth, Nao pounded a bases-clearing triple to right. His 2nd triple of the season put the Maulers ahead, 12-0.
"I have nothing to complain about," said winning manager Austin Alexander after the game.
