Monarchs Prevail, 4-2, Over Niagara
|
The London Monarchs stymied the Niagara Stars, 4-2, at Drummondville College Grounds. Harry Collette, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for London. Bill Feightner got the save, the 6th for him this season. London, at 12-10, occupies second place in the Lester B. Person League East Division.
With the clubs tied 2-2 in the top of the sixth and runners on 1st and 2nd, London sent Collette to the plate. He got a full count cutter and hit a 2-run double, to put the Monarchs on top, 4-2.
Niagara manager Bob Costas said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
