Heat Get Road Win, 11-9
|
The Kelowna Heat beat the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 11-9, at Blue Wings Ballpark. The Heat got a fine performance from right fielder Willard Corrigan, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Carter Yeo earned the save, his 5th, for the Heat. At 11-8, Kelowna is in third place in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
Alvin McLean, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a changeup from Tim Doiron for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put Kelowna in front, 11-9.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Heat manager Jorge Martínez. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
