Vargas Excels in 5-4 San Carlos Win
Pipers third baseman Eli Vargas put his stamp on his team's 5-4 win over the Bloomington Hoosiers. Vargas went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for San Carlos in the contest. Picking up the win was Carlos Gonzales. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 5. San Carlos, with the win, climbs to 17-74.

Vargas had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Omar Trujillo, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Pipers a 5-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Vargas.
