Leprechauns Endure 12-2 Beatdown
The Saint John Alpines met little resistance from the Royal Oak Leprechauns, beating them, 12-2, at Alpines Field. Luis Ramirez led the way. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Saint John. Edwin Mares, now 8-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. The Alpines improved to a lofty 65-25.

With Saint John leading 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Ramirez came up to bat against Royal Oak pitcher Jose Artigas. Ramirez hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Alpines on top, 10-1.

"Nice to score a bunch of runs," said Ramirez after the game.
